The Skills Upgrading Program is designed to help you build your skills in reading, writing, to move on to: employment, high school credits, apprenticeship programs, or post-secondary education such as college programs. We also assist learners with independence goals of learning basic computers or furthering their essential skills for work.  Childminding is available, Call/Text: 519-400-6970

This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario and through the Canada-Ontario Job Fund Agreement. It is a FREE program for all learners.  Learners must be 19 years of age. If English is a second language, learners must have a Canadian Language Benchmark of 6 in speaking and listening to attend the program.

In partnership with Guelph-Wellington-Dufferin Public Health.  

This free daytime program in Guelph for pregnant women and teens who are facing challenging situations. Talk to a nurse and dietitian about: Pregnancy, birth and parenting; Healthy eating for two; Breastfeeding.  Get free snacks, bus tickets, prenatal vitamins, and gift certificates for food. The Guelph Young Parent Program is offered by College Heights Secondary School. Our program provides academic support for pregnant teens and teen parents. Students will not only earn credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, but also develop an understanding of a healthy family life, expand their parenting and life skills, strengthen their sense of self worth, and create a community of learning with other young moms.  This program is run out of the Youth Room at Shelldale Family Gateway and childminding is provided.  If you are a pregnant or parenting teen who is interested in completing your high school education through YPEP,  contact College Heights Secondary School at (821) 4510.

In partnership with Action Read Community Literacy Centre. 

It helps assess the basic skills needed for adults to perform tasks on computer and online.  This is a group based learning and assessment program that helps adults through online, self guided modules.  These include:   Basic Computer Use, Internet, Windows operating System, Mac OS, Email, Microsoft Word, Social Media, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Information Literacy. Northstar is an assessment, not a curriculum.  When individuals pass the assessments they can obtain the Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate. This provides a credential for employment.
